How We Use Cookies

TechFixGen uses the following types of cookies:

1. Analytics Cookies

We use Google Analytics to measure site traffic and understand user behavior. Google Analytics uses the following cookies:

  • _ga — Distinguishes users (expires after 2 years)
  • _ga_* — Used by Google Analytics 4 for session tracking (expires after 2 years)

These cookies collect only anonymous, aggregated data. They do not identify you personally.

2. Session Recording Cookies (Microsoft Clarity)

We use Microsoft Clarity to understand how users interact with the site through anonymized session recordings. Clarity uses:

  • _clck — Persists the Clarity user ID and preferences (expires after 1 year)
  • _clsk — Connects session data for analytics (expires after 24 hours)

Clarity masks sensitive information (text inputs in form fields) and does not record personally identifiable data.

3. Advertising Cookies

We do not currently use advertising cookies. If we introduce Google AdSense in the future, advertising cookies will be set by Google and governed by their Advertising Policy. This cookie policy will be updated before any advertising cookies are activated.

4. Preference Data (localStorage)

We use localStorage to store your theme preference (dark or light mode). This is not technically a cookie — it is a browser storage mechanism. The data never leaves your device and is not transmitted to any server.

Managing Cookies

You have full control over cookies. You can:

  • Block cookies — Most browsers allow you to block all cookies. Note: blocking analytics cookies will prevent us from measuring site traffic.
  • Delete existing cookies — Clear cookies via your browser settings to remove tracking data already stored.
  • Opt out of Google Analytics — Install the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
  • Opt out of Clarity — Visit Microsoft Clarity Opt-out.
